ounded in 2016 with the ambition to push the boundaries of large-scale AI, both at the software and hardware level, LightOn’s early significant contributions include the design of the optical processing unit (OPU), the first coprocessor in photonic AI in the world. The OPU was used by researchers around the world on a dedicated cloud platform and integrated into one of the world’s largest supercomputers – another world first.
