Our Story
February 2019
In February 2019, the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) launched an open call to select European hosting entities for supercomputers, and a consortium led by LuxConnect was chosen to host a petascale system in Luxembourg.
JUNE-JULY 2019
In June of the same year, the Luxembourg HPC MeluXina was presented as part of the EuroHPC JU initiative LuxProvide S.A. was created as a subsidiary of LuxConnect in July 2019.
January 2020
In January 2020, EuroHPC JU and LuxProvide issued a tender for the procurement of the national supercomputer.
SEPTEMBER 2020
Atos was chosen as the supplier of the national supercomputer, and the contract was signed in September 2020
NOVEMBER 2020
In November, the HPC server room in LuxConnect’s green Data Center in Bissen was ready to host the national supercomputer.
JUNE 2021
The MeluXina supercomputer was inaugurated in June 2021, boasting a combined peak performance of over 18 petaflops based on the Atos BullSequana XH2000 water-cooled platform.

OCTOBER 2021
The Early Access Program was launched and was available to companies to be the first to use the power of the supercomputer MeluXina.

DECEMBER 2022
LuxProvide achieved the ISO 27001 Certification ensuring that we comply with the strictest international standards of data security.

JUNE 2023
Launching of the new LuxProvide logo and brand identity to align with our new positioning offering data science services on top of the superpowers of MeluXina.
SEPTEMBER 2023
Launching of the new Initiate and Cashback 80% Programs for Startups.

NOVEMBER 2023
Obtention of the Tech Firm of the Year Award at the TNT Symposium by The Dots Luxembourg
OCTOBER 2024
LuxProvide is selected to host and operate MeluXina-Q, a new cutting-edge EuroHPC quantum computer coming 2026.
DECEMBER 2024
EuroHPC selected LuxProvide to host and operate new MeluXina-AI supercomputer coming to Luxembourg

INITIATIVE
LuxProvide’s role in advancing Europe’s digital future
LuxProvide plays a key role in Europe’s efforts to strengthen its supercomputing capacity and digital economy through a number of major initiatives:
- EuroHPC Joint Undertaking: Backed by an €8 billion investment, the EuroHPC JU is developing a world-class European supercomputing ecosystem. MeluXina stands as one of its flagship systems, contributing to Europe’s technological sovereignty.
- SuperComputing Luxembourg: Co-managed by LuxProvide, the University of Luxembourg and Luxinnovation, this national initiative encourages the adoption of HPC, data analytics and AI across industry, academia and the public sector.
- EuroCC and CASTIEL: These European projects aim to build a coordinated network of National Competence Centres for HPC, offering local expertise and support for users in each participating country.
- EUMaster4HPC: A pan-European master’s programme combining academic training with hands-on experience in high-performance computing, designed to prepare the next generation of HPC professionals.
- Application Support Teams (ASTs): From September 2023, ASTs provide dedicated support for HPC users, including technical assistance, training, and practical workshops to help maximise the impact of HPC applications.
- HPCTRAIN: A European traineeship programme aimed at enhancing skills development, increasing diversity, and expanding career opportunities within the HPC ecosystem.
- DeployAI: Focused on building an AI-on-Demand platform to deliver trustworthy, ethical AI tools. It supports adoption in small and medium-sized enterprises as well as public institutions.
- DAFAB: (Data for Advanced Forecasting and Business)
An initiative using Earth observation data and high-performance computing to support sectors such as agriculture and insurance, helping drive new market opportunities.
Together, these initiatives form a strategic effort to scale up Europe’s supercomputing capabilities, develop digital skills, and foster innovation in AI and data-intensive technologies.

We have built a multidisciplinary team with strong expertise in supercomputing infrastructure, data science, AI and cybersecurity. Our specialists bring a proven track record in both deploying and operating high-performance systems, as well as delivering value through advanced digital technologies.
